ANOTHER INDEPENDENT MAID GONE BAD|ATHERTON, CALIFORNIA

This is one in a series on the peril you place your family in when you hire an independent maid. -Ed.
Housecleaner, boyfriend arrested after brazen wine heist

ATHERTON, Calif. (AP) — Investigators are breaking out the bubbly this weekend after arresting a housecleaner and her boyfriend in connection with one of the nation's most brazen wine heists.

According to police records, thieves broke into an oeno
phile's posh home in this Silicon Valley suburb on Jan. 4, spiriting off with 454 bottles of wine worth $139,000. Their booty included a magnum of 1959 Petrus worth as much as $6,000 and a difficult-to-assemble set of Bordeaux wines representing an unbroken line of more than 20 years of French harvests.

Read full article at Tahoe Daily Tribune.  Bottom line to Oenophile's across America...stop hiring under the table, independent maids to clean out your home. Independent maids, just like bottles from Bordeaux can turn sour if mismanaged.  Hire a professional maid service that works very hard to protect you from ending up in the newspaper.

CRAIGSLIST|GREAT PLACE FOR CRIMINALS TO FENCE STOLEN ITEMS

OCTOBER 17TH, 2008, 11:05 AM · POST A COMMENT · POSTED BY DEVON HERSOM

A Mesa man contracting with Fannie Mae to clean foreclosed homes admitted to police that he sold appliances within the victim’s homes on Craigslist.

Jamie Pantastico searched the Fannie Mae Web site for foreclosed homes and gained access to a home through a key lock box, according to Det. Frank Mendoza of Chandler police. Pantastico, 39, would then take photographs of home appliances to later post them for sale on Craigslist.

Potential buyers would come to the foreclosed home to view the appliance while Pantastico posed as the homeowner, Mendoza said.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office arrested Pantastico in September and an investigation was passed on to the Chandler Police Department. Investigators found that Pantastico sold numerous items in the Chandler area, Mendoza said.

Mendoza said the Chandler Police are looking for victims in Chandler and other parts of the Valley. Read this article at the East Valley Tribune.

WMD'S & THE MAID SERVICE

Here's an article by Johann Hari in Slate Magazine.  Johann writes:

Every day, you handle the deadliest substance on earth. It is a weapon of mass destruction festering beneath your fingernails....The story of civilization has been the story of separating you from your waste...

A single gram of feces can contain "ten million viruses, one million bacteria, one thousand parasite cysts, and one hundred worm eggs." Accidentally ingesting this cocktail causes 80 percent of all the sickness on earth.

We clean toilets everyday.  Lots of toilets.  It is not glamorous, but it is dignified.  We are protecting our Clients from millions of viruses!  Just another way we improve the lives of our Customers.

I can think of many reasons  to own a residential cleaning business.  There is demand for residential cleaning.  Residential cleaning is a cash business...no acccounts receivable.  Residential cleaning franchises don't require a great investment in equipment. The list goes on...

If you are considering escaping from your cubical and joining the ranks of job creating entrepreneurs, please consider our franchise.  You’ve Got MAIDS is authorized to support franchisee’s in Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, West Virginia, & Wyoming.  If you are seeking to join a house cleaning franchise and your state is not listed, please contact us anyway;  we will let you know when we are scheduled to roll out our franchise in your state.  You’ve Got MAIDS, America’s Finest Maid Service™!

CHOOSING THE RIGHT CUSTOMERS

Here's an article by Mina Kimes in CNNMoney.com entitled Choose the Right Customers:

A pastry distributor achieves business nirvana by ditching his biggest customer.

Christy, 55, was inspired by a San Diego bakery's cheesecake. He bought a slice during a West Coast jaunt in 1994, and found love at first bite. After ordering 30 more cheesecakes from the same bakery, he launched Incredible Foods to sell the pastry to local food vendors in Pennsylvania, his home state.

Like many entrepreneurs, Christy set out to boost revenues by reaching a bigger market. But the founder and CEO of Incredible Foods, a dessert delivery service in Gibsonia, Pa., soon found that bigger sales don't necessarily equal better business.

Incredible Foods quickly landed one of the biggest accounts of all: Starbucks (SBUXFortune 500)...as Starbucks locations multiplied, Christy's workload ballooned. Revenues reached $3.4 million in 2005, but soaring overhead wiped out Christy's profits...Christy decided to cut the cord. He delivered his last pastry to Starbucks in October 2005. The account generated 48% of Incredible Foods' annual revenues, but Christy believed that he could run a stronger company without Starbucks. So he shrank the staff from 13 to six, eliminated one of his two offices, and focused his marketing attention on local customers who closed deals with a handshake, generally without resorting to squadrons of lawyers and accountants.

It paid off. Last year Incredible Foods posted an 11% increase in profits on revenues of $2.2 million, and Christy expects a 22% revenue increase this year.

"I can do half the business, make twice the money, and have a tenth of the headaches," he says.

Nowhere is this more true than in the residential home cleaning business.  If a maid service owner bids a job too low, you will begin the downward death spiral of your company that serves no ones best interest.  Not you. Not your employees.  Not your vendors.  Not your Customers.

I'm not advocating high prices, because the worshiping of premium pricing only serves as an invitation to more competition.  I am stating that a good housecleaning company owner needs to know their bottom line.  If a Client forces you to work below your break even point consider this truth...the kid working the McDonalds drive through is earning a better ROI on their labor than you.

If you are considering getting into business for yourself, please consider our franchise.

Banging on the Integrity Drum...who knew it was profitable?

Here's an exert from a new book by Tony Simon, entitled  The Integrity Dividend: Leading by the Power of Your Word.

Leaders' personal integrity drives the profitability and overall success of their organization. This groundbreaking book is based in on solid research and reveals that businesses led by managers of higher integrity enjoy deeper employee commitment, lower turnover, superior customer service, and substantially higher profitability. This improved performance is the integrity dividend.

At You've Got MAIDS we built our company on the foundation of injecting integrity into everything we do.  From the respect we treat our team members with, to keeping our promises with our Clients, to following the law.

Treating employees with respect and keeping your promises to Customers does not guarantee everyone will be happy.  Far from it.   We didn't decide to select integrity as our cornerstone to become profitable...we chose integrity because it is the right thing to do.

GREEN CLEANING TIPS ~ CEILING FAN CLEANING TIPS

Why do ceiling fans seem to attract dust?  Doesn't the revolving blades kick off any dust that accumulates on the ceiling fan blades?

Here are excerpts of an article by Loren Larson on the web site imponderables, entitled Why Do Ceiling Fans Get Dusty.

Tens of thousands of human skin flakes fall off our body every minute.  "Luckily" for us, there are millions of microscopic mites in our abodes, insects that dine on the skin that we shed. Bodanis estimates that just within the average double bed mattress, two million dust mites live on our discarded skin and hairEach mite defecates perhaps twenty times a day; their fecal pellets are so small that they float in the air, circulating around the house. Despite the millions of insects who depend upon our shedding skin for their survival, human skin and hair is by far the largest component in the dust found on ceiling fans and throughout the house.

The air always has a great deal of dust in it -- larger particles that you can see, and also microscopic ones. Over time, a large volume of the circulating air hits and collects on the blades of the fan. Most dust particles carry an electrical charge, and therefore can be attracted to one another (a dust ball is simply an accumulation of charged dust particles that have a fatal attraction).

The charged dust particles are attracted and cling to any surface that develops a charge. This can be electrical equipment, which directly carries electric current) or a surface subjected to frictional forces, which result in a static electricity build-up. The latter is the case for ceiling fans. As the blades rotate, they experience frictional forces as they `rub' against the air; this knocks electrons around, causing the blades to build up a net charge. The charged dust particles then stick to the charged areas of the blades.

The leading edge of the blades usually develops the thickest layer of dust. That's because the leading edge [the edge first cutting the air as the blade spins] encounters the most friction and develops the largest charge.

I just thought the ceiling fans were dusty...who knew they were an entire ecosystem fed by my cells.  Gross and cool at the very same time.

On a 52-Point Spring Clean we attempt to hand wash the paddles.  Our Cleaning Techs get up on our 2-Step Ladder**.  If they can't reach it safely they use a pole duster to get at it.

At You've Got MAIDS we dust of our Clients ceiling fans on every single cleaning.  Just doing our part to improve the air our Customers breath.

**WARNING** You never want to let your independent, uninsured maids use your ladder. If they fell and hurt themselves there would be serious liability issues. Our Clients never need to worry about our maids suing them, because we do not employ independent contractors. All of You've Got MAIDS associates are covered under our Workers Compensation Insurance. If a You've Got MAIDS employee gets hurt in your house, it is our problem, not yours

Update: David & Victoria's Beckhams Maids Still Guilty till Proven Innocent

Familiarity almost always breeds contempt. Why do we act surprised?

Key Quote #1: "My wife has known Victoria for ten years. It’s a misunderstanding,”

Key Quote #2: When asked whether he was being paid well, he said: “I wouldn’t exactly say that.”

Beck's & Posh's old maids are claiming the boots, sportswear and designer gear they have been selling on Ebay were gifts...

Our New Bookstore is the Library

Our new bookstore is the library,” Debbie said. “It’s great. They have almost anything I want. And if they don’t have it, all I have to do is ask, and they’ll order it for me.”

I love the public library, but the conversation with our hostess made me realize that I've done a poor job of using it since I started working from home. It’s only about a 30-minute walk from our house (and a five-minute drive), but for some reason, I used it more when I was driving to work. I've become lazy. I should go visit it next week and remind myself that I, too, have access to a “bookstore” where everything is free.

Read the entire article at getrichslowly.org.

Debbie makes a great point, but if you absolutely, positively need to keep the book consider half.com.  You can't get new releases, but you can get older books in new condition for a couple bucks.

Another way to possibly get rich slowly is to own your own business.

House Cleaning Franchise Recruitment Booth at Lehman Brothers?

Here's an article by Pamela Slim's blog, Escape from Cubicle Nation, entitled How many Lehman employees do you think have backup plans?  Pamela writes:

My heart broke as I watched dejected Lehman Brothers employees carry their personal effects out of their offices on Sunday.  As much as they were aware of strain in their company, if they are like typical corporate employees, most did not expect the bankruptcy outcome.

I was so fascinated to see this right as I am polishing the chapter of the Escape from Cubicle Nation book on why corporate employees are afraid to leave their jobs to start a business.  A very common concern is that their "cushy" situation is as good as it gets, and they would be foolish to leave the "stability" of a corporate job for the "uncertainty" of entrepreneurial life.

Being your own boss is not for everyone.  I wonder how many of Lehman Brothers employees had quietly dreamed of owning their own business.  Perhaps it was a charter fishing boat moored in Key West, or a Dairy Queen in a sandy sea shore town.  Maybe one of them wanted to own a residential cleaning service in Tampa Bay, Florida (Hint, Hint)!

I can think of many reasons  to own a residential cleaning business.  There is demand for residential cleaning.  Residential cleaning is a cash business...no acccounts receivable.  Residential cleaning franchises don't require a great investment in equipment. The list goes on...

You've Got MAIDS Franchisee Runs through the Streets in a PINK WIG!

Charleston, SC –  Local  You’ve Got MAIDS Franchise Partner Angie Barnes participated in the 2008 Komen Lowcountry Race for the Cure® on Saturday, with 6500 friends, family members and neighbors.  Saturday mornings rain did not stop this years race from being the largest race for the cure in Charleston's history

Ms. Barnes wrote the names of breast cancer survivor Clients and Friends on her race day T-Shirt.  The Komen Charleston Race for the Cure® raises money to fund education, screening, treatment programs, and supports the national search for a cure.  This benefits thousands of women; some are your friends and neighbors in the Lowcountry.

Angie's friends & family members came out to support the Komen Race for the Cure, but apparently only Angie received the mandatory pink wig memo!  Everyone at You've Got MAIDS is proud of Angie running for the cure.  Anyone needing profession house cleaning please call You've Got Maids of Charleston at 843.805.7000.

Rights watchdog blasts abuse of foreign workers in Lebanon

Rights watchdog blasts abuse of foreign workers in Lebanon
15 Oct 2008,

BEIRUT: "My maid is extremely ugly, I can't fight the urge to slap her when I see her early in the morning," boasts a Lebanese trader from Ain Anoub village just outside Beirut. He laughs.

It gets worse. A recent report by Human Rights Watch showed that at least 95 migrant domestic workers have died in Lebanon since January 2007.

Read the entire article at THE DAILY STAR.

This Lebanese man is opening a window so we can view the content of his soul...He is the one that is ugly and in desperate need for a slap down.  You can tell the content of a persons soul from their actions, just like you can tell what type of tree it is by the fruit that it produces.

We hope that the internet, and the sharing of these human rights horror stories will clean up the way some employers treat their house cleaners.  Even if they don't believe in treating others with respect and dignity, the fear of public ridicule and jail may just scare them straight.

10-yr-old burnt with iron rod

10-yr-old burnt with iron rod
16 Oct 2008, 0326

PANCHKULA: Gates of palatial houses are apparently not enough to keep brutality out. It was in one such house in Panchkula’s Sector 4 that a 10-year-old maid was allegedly burnt using an iron rod after she ate some dry fruits. The house in question is the residence of industrialist Arun Singla and his wife Meenu. The couple will now be tried in Panchkula.

Read the entire article at THE TIMES OF INDIA.

This disgust me.  You can tell the content of a persons soul from their actions, just like you can tell what type of tree it is by the fruit that it produces.  How could one human being treat another like this?
We hope that the internet, and the sharing of these human rights horror stories will clean up the way some employers treat their house cleaners.  Even if they don't believe in treating others with respect and dignity, the fear of public ridicule and jail may just scare them straight.

Pawn shop owner faces charges in property theft case

Thursday, October 16, 2008

CLEVELAND, OHIO — The owner of a Cleveland pawn shop has been charged by police with receiving stolen property, a felony.  Police said Fatima Irizarry, a Cleveland housecleaner, stole more than $75,000 in property from a Moreland Hills couple for whom she was working.
Read full article at Chagrin Herald Sun.  Bottom line to the fine people of Cleveland...stop hiring under the table, independent maids to clean out your home.  Hire a professional maid service that works very hard to protect you from ending up in the newspaper.

Little Jobs Create Biggest Headaches

Here is a piece of negative feedback we received yesterday for a one time service a week earlier.  Clara writes...

Dear Frank,
I had my house cleaned last Wednesday by some of your ladies. I have to say I was not pleased with the job they did. I had to point out quite a few areas where they had missed. They did fix the problems but then rushed right out before I could recheck the area...

Here is what happened:
  • I took Clara's initial call.  She described what she wanted...just part of her home cleaned.  We have a 4 hour minimum for one time cleans, but I waived this as Clara was concerned with her finances.  I projected 3 man hours for the limited cleaning she was requesting.  She agreed, I sent her our contract and booked the service.
  • The following day she called the office to see if we could just do 2 hours of service.  The receptionist was surprised that I had waived the 4 hour minimum.  Again it was explained that for initial cleans we charge per man hour, and that we don't round up...we charge to the minute.
  • The maids arrived to clean.  Our team leader was aware of Clara's request to keep the time down and kept an open line of communication with her.  Before exceeding 2 hours of house cleaning, our team leader "maid" sure Cara wanted us to continue.  The Team Leader wrapped up the service at 3 man hours, somewhat frustrated that she could not finish the entire home, but knowing that we gave the Client what the Client requested.
  • Our Cleaning Techs moved on to their next home a few blocks away.  Clara calls the office and states she is not happy with the service.  Our receptionist listens, takes notes, and tells Clara that the maids will be back in 30 minutes to do whatever she wants.  Clara is surprised and tells us that she doesn't want to get the maids in trouble, and that she would just like money off.  We tell her that the maids will not get in trouble, and that we guarantee our work.  Clara rejects our offer to reclean.
  • Here is our Guarantee that was emailed to Clara before we provided service...  Our 100% Guaranty - Our 52-Point Spring Clean is Guaranteed!  If you are not satisfied for any reason, call our office with in 24 hours for a re-clean of the unsatisfactory areas.  Naturally because of the subjective nature of cleaning, and the fact that the maids have already scrubbed the Clients toilets, refunds are not offered.

I waived our company policy for Clara and now I regret it.  There is a pattern of disproportionate frustration that arises from almost ever instance that we waive our company policy.  Our house cleaning company would have been better off if we had stuck to our policy of requiring a 4-hour minimum for one time maid service.

Why is it that the cheapest jobs create the biggest headaches? House Cleaning Company Owners be true to yourself first...it will help you run a better business.  Set your standards, and then stick to them.

ANOTHER INDEPENDENT MAID GONE BAD|DAYTON, OHIO

This is one in a series on the peril you place your family in when you hire an independent maid. -Ed.
Woman who stole booster's money sentenced

DAYTON — A Kettering woman who stole money from the Fairmont Athletic Boosters and the Kettering Youth Wrestling Association was sentenced Tuesday, Oct. 14, to probation, not to exceed five years.

Angela Monnin, 49, of 249 Canterbury Drive, was ordered by Montgomery County Common Pleas Court Judge Timothy O'Connell to pay $2,864 in restitution to the Boosters and $2,463 to the wrestling association. Both sanctions included a payment plan of $50 per month.

Monnin, who listed her occupation as a self-employed house cleaner on a police arrest report, declined to speak before the sentencing.  Read full article at Dayton Daily News.

Integrity is a virtue that refers to the quality of a person's character.  Ms. Monnin is now free on parole to continue her self-employed house cleaner profession.  She would be unemployable at You've Got MAIDS.

WE ALL HAVE A JOB TO DO

Perfect Plush  writes WE ALL HAVE A JOB TO DO.

Why does the cleaning lady think I want to have a conversation with her? I’m nice. I’m polite – “Hi, how are you.” “Don’t miss the cream cheese on the carpet from my dropped bagel.” But I don’t care about the weather, or your back, or your son who was just arrested. No, I don’t do criminal work, and certainly am not friends with any lawyer who would do that type of work.

You do your job and I’ll do mine. And if we do them in silence, we’ll both be happier. Or at least I will be, and that’s what matters.

We feel your pain Perfect Plush.  Many of our house cleaning clients work from home.  At You've Got MAIDS we teach our new house cleaning techs (maids) the art of cleaning a home while the owners are present.  We are to be quiet as mice.  We are not there for companionship...we are hired to clean and get out.  Simple stuff.

Changelessness Amid Reeling Change

We are in the midst of a global financial crisis that has everyone worried for today and the future...one constant in the midst of turbulent change: principles.

In these especially difficult, uncertain times, the need is to develop a solid unwavering core. When we adopt changeless, timeless principles such as trust, fairness, service, courage, humility, integrity, human dignity, contribution, growth, empowerment, as our core values, we anchor and enable ourselves to adapt and respond to the forces of change and the new dynamics of the global economy.

I suggest this is also a time of opportunity. Make time to take an inventory of your life, to determine your values, to focus on what matters most and let go of the dead weight of things that matter least—the things that distract us and lead us on the wrong path.

For house cleaning franchises that adhere to the principles of fairness, service, integrity, human dignity, empowerment, and contribution as core values this could be a season of growth.  Just turn off the TV if you want to keep your spirits up.  Ignore the doom and gloom and keep your nose to the grindstone, while your eyes are fixed on the horizon.

David and Victoria Beckham's housekeepers arrested for 'theft'

Mrs Beckham's parents contacted police after recognising items offered for sale on an Internet auction site.

They went to the multi-million pound home in Sawbridgeworth, Herts and discovered that identical items belonging to the England footballer and his pop star wife were missing.

Officers from Hertfordshire Police arrested the housekeepers, a couple aged in their 50s, at their home in Nazeing, Essex on Friday. They were questioned and bailed to return to Hoddesdon police station on November 22, pending further investigation.

A source said that Mrs Beckham's parents, Tony and Jackie Adams, are now adamant that David and Victoria hire You've Got MAIDS for all their future house cleaning needs.  One slight drawback for their drawbridge is that America's Finest Maid Service, You've Got MAIDS has not reached the UK yet. Please be patient  David & Victoria!

ACORN Registers MICKEY MOUSE to Vote - Orange County left to Clean Up!

Mickey Mouse tried to register to vote in Orlando, Florida.

Orange County elections officials  rejected his application, which was stamped with the logo of the nonprofit group ACORN.

Orange County's premier residential maid service, You've Got MAIDS, congratulates the Orange County election officials that caught MICKEY MOUSE red handed.  Best of luck cleaning up the the fraudulent voter-registration forms that ACORN is dumping in your lap.

REPEAT BUSINESS IS THE COOL THING ABOUT THE RESIDENTIAL MAID SERVICE, You've Got MAIDS.  Just about every business recognizes the value of repeat business, but not many enjoy the repeat business of the franchised house cleaning industry.  Professional home cleaning companies can count on everything getting dirty, and that is the secret to our success.

Homes consistently accumulate filth and more and more homeowners are willing to pay the cost of hiring a professional maid service to clean their homes.  If owning a small business in the cleaning industry sounds like a good idea to you, give us a call at 888-MAID-WOW.

Hot tub gets bad rub: Infertility

Hot tub gets bad rub: Infertility

On September 4th we gave tips on how to green clean your jetted hot tub in a series devoted to Green Cleaning Tips.
Hot tubs can be
fertile feeding grounds for billions of bacteria particles, including the dreaded Legionella bacteria  which can lead to Legionnaires Disease.  Now the Los Angeles Times is pointing out that while a green cleaned tub may protect you from harmful bacteria, every hot tub can lead to infertility. This could be a good or bad thing...so much of life is a matter of perspective.

MAID SERVICE JUGGLING

Juggling is hard work.  Not just everyone can juggle...it takes talent and practice. We've decided that managing a You've Got MAIDS franchise office is a daily act of juggling...but we don't just juggle everything.  A maid service should know its limitations.

No sooner was the blog House Cleaning Experts posted than I get a phone call from an Orlando Realtor who needs CARPET CLEANING, WINDOW CLEANING(including high ladder work), HOUSE CLEANING, and TRASH REMOVAL (1/2 of a 2 car garage filled with trash & boxes).

If we were a Jack of All Trades we could have made more money today, but our future prospects would be dim.  We would be mediocre at just about everything we did. Instead we rededicate ourselves daily to being the home cleaning experts...You've Got MAIDS, Americas Finest Maid Service.

In Orlando, FL we routinely recommend the following trusted companies:

  • CARPET CLEANING:  Call Tower Flooring 407 523 9666 (ask for Kat)
  • WINDOW CLEANING:  Call FISH WINDOW CLEANING 407 862 9463 (ask for Tony B)
  • JUNK REMOVAL: 800 GOT JUNK

Please consider You've Got MAIDS for your home cleaning needs.

Luxury providers in game of survival

Luxury providers in game of survival

The Post and Courier
Thursday, October 9, 2008

Viridian Day Spa in Mount Pleasant sent out an e-mail to clients Tuesday morning with the subject line "Sad News from Viridian."

In it, owner and founder Laura Kennedy revealed that the spa would close Oct. 26.

The reason: "The economy has taken its toll on many new businesses recently and we are no exception," she wrote. Kennedy, who declined to be interviewed, went on to say the country's recent economic woes "have magnified the impact on Viridian and, undoubtedly, will continue to impact discretionary services like spa visits."

Perhaps better termed luxury goods, discretionary services face a game of survival whenever their customers begin to tighten the budget strings. These past few weeks alone, some of them have met their match.

Frank Berger, chief executive officer and founder of You've Got Maids, said he considers himself fortunate that his numbers have been steady for franchises in both Charleston and in Orlando, Fla. But he did notice a trend among the spreading economic fallout.

"We've seen a disproportionate number of formerly independent maids coming to us looking for a job," he said.

Berger said customers who choose independent cleaners tend to have less disposable income. If you want insured, background-checked, drug-tested service, you have to pay more, he said.

Dr. William Terranova at The Center for Plastic Surgery in Charleston has heard of as much as a 25 percent drop throughout his industry over the past several months.

The impact on individual practices, Terranova said, largely depends on whether patients' surgeries are medically necessary or cosmetic. He's not sure how much the economic downturn has affected his business but said 95 percent of his patients would fall into the latter category.

"What I've seen is it's not people canceling surgery," Terranova said. "They don't come in to consider it."

He said people today are weighing any discretionary purchases against the security of having that money stashed away.

"Some of my general surgery colleagues have patients with hernias who put off getting their hernias fixed," Terranova said.

Local spa consultant Christina Robertson cautions that the downturn hasn't taken every business with it. Some spas, she said, are in higher demand than ever.

"Some businesses have even had a slight increase," she said. "They have clients who are stressed out."

NEW HOUSE CLEANING COMPANY THAT DOES NOT CLEAN

This is from a new house cleaning companies website...

Q:  How is your company different from a maid service?

A:  Unlike a maid service, we don’t do dishes, make beds, take out the trash, etc. Instead we focus completely on cleaning and sanitizing your home, using the same techniques and equipment that is used to clean and sanitize medical facilities.

How can you say your cleaning companies goals are cleaning and sanitizing homes without removing the fertile feeding grounds of bacteria, dust mites, and germs?

  • What type of cleaning company doesn't remove sheets & the millions of dust mites living in them?
  • What sort of maid service doesn't take out the germ infested trash and then clean and sanitize the trash can?
  • What manner of housekeeping company doesn't deposit it's clients bacteria overrun dirty dishes into that homes bacteria sanitizer (aka dishwasher)?

Consumer beware of residential cleaning companies that sell the sizzle, but forget the steak.

FIVE THINGS You’ve Got MAIDS HOLDS TO BE TRUE: #1 - Do one thing really, really well.

#1 - Do one thing really, really well.  You've Got MAIDS® cleans homes.  We know what we do, and we do it really well.  We focus on being Americas Finest Maid Service™ at every morning meeting.

PARTNERSHIPS |WHAT WOULD YOU TRADE FOR 50% OWNERSHIP OF DOMINO'S PIZZA

This post is one of a series devoted to Partnerships. - Ed.

In 1960, brothers Tom and James Monaghan borrowed $500 to purchase DomiNick’s, a pizza store in Ypsilanti, Michigan. The next year, James traded his half of the business to Tom for a Volkswagen Beetle.

Currently Domino's Pizza has more than 8,600 delivery locations in more than 50 countries. (The chain includes more than 5,100 stores in the US.)

Here's a picture of my wife next to that very Volkswagen Beetle, housed at Domino's Farms (aka Domino's Pizza World Headquarters). This picture was taken during our week long franchise class hosted in the same building.

Monaghan retired in 1998 and sold Domino's Pizza for nearly 1 billion dollars, but retained a reported 27 percent non-controlling stake in the company.

If you are considering joining a franchise, please consider the residential maid service franchises. Molly Maid, Merry Maids, & the MAIDS are all very good choices, but if you are looking for a bargain,
You've Got MAIDS® residential maid service franchise might be right for you. Since we are building our brand, you will enjoy lower start up cost, & have better access to protected territories. This is a ground floor opportunity and that is something Molly Maid, Merry Maids, & Maidbrigade can not deliver on anymore.

If you are searching to purchase a residential maid service franchise , click here to submit a franchise application. You've Got MAIDS stands for professionalism, integrity and clean, healthy homes.

MOUNT PLEASANT HOUSE CLEANING REVIEW

Negative feedback is better than none, but positive feedback is more palatable.  No doubt about it, feedback whether positive or negative is better than Customer indifference.  The negative stuff gives us something to work on.  The positive comments a reason to celebrate.

Following is feedback from Kate in Mount Pleasant, SC.  Mount Pleasant, SC is a beautiful place to live, and this Mount Pleasant maid service consumer has beautiful things to say about the residential cleaning company, You’ve Got MAIDS.

From: Kate <kate****@yahoo.com>
Date: Fri, Sep 26, 2008 at 6:56 AM
Subject: looks good!
To: Angie Barnes <angie@youvegotmaids.com>

Hi Angie,

I just got back from California last night and was very pleased to walk into a nice clean house.  They did a great job.  I'm sure it took extra time, the place was a disaster when I left.   Just let me know the amount I owe you.  I'd also like to know the typical cost for every other week and weekly.

Angie - awesome job yesterday with my townhome!  Between 2 weeks of packing and moving, it was neglected and dirty - especially once we started moving furniture that hadn't been moved in a while;)  Just wanted you to know it looked great!  Thanks again....

CRAIGSLIST|Great way for CRIMINAL to start a MAID SERVICE

This post is one of a series devoted to purchasing maid service on CRAIGSLIST. - Ed.
Is CRAIGSLIST a good place to find MAID SERVICE for your families home?  Maybe.  Maybe not.
There are legitimate house cleaning companies posting on Craigslist.  We do it from time to time and my fixed opinion is that it is a good way to meet bargain shoppers...somewhere between the K-Mart and a 3rd rate flea market.  If you post your housecleaning companies info on Craigslist expect to talk to people that are just interested in price.  They are commodity shoppers.
Before hiring any maid service you find on Craigslist do your homework researching the residential cleaning company or housekeeper you are interested in. It’s your home and you should make sure that your not letting just anyone into your castle.
