Another Independent MAID GONE BAD|Lakeland Florida

post is one of a series devoted to independent maids gone bad. - Ed.Lakeland, FL- Shoshana Walter of the Ledger writes..."Housekeeper's Granddaughters Arrested After Jewelry Vanishes...Two granddaughters of a Lakeland housekeeper were arrested Thursday and accused of stealing jewelry valued at $17,000 from a client's home..."
Well there you have it, she needed the money. All forgiven! I bet you dollars to donuts that this Lakeland, Florida Cleaning Lady charged $10-15 less than the local MAIDPRO franchise. Some independent house cleaners charge less because they have less overhead...some of these independents look at normal business expenses and laugh (business licenses..we don't need no stinkin' business license). These Lakeland, Florida maids may be released soon to return to cleaning out homes in Lakeland, Florida.
When will people learn? You always get what you pay for. Thrifty maid service consumers that look to pay less than the local You've Got MAIDS OR Maidbrigade office, often get just what they paid for.

MAID University was founded as an educational institution whose sole purpose is to train Franchise Partners and their employee’s in order to help guarantee the entire system's success. Following your acceptance as a You’ve Got MAIDS Franchise Partner, you will be enrolled in MAIDS University to begin your formal induction into the You’ve Got MAIDS culture. Unlike traditional Universities where there is a Commencement Ceremony after 4 years, at You’ve Got MAIDS we feel there is no Graduation Date. Ongoing education of our Franchise Partners is an enduring commitment. We are a learning company dedicated to the principal of constant improvement. Classroom training takes place on the You’ve Got MAIDS Campus in Mount Pleasant, SC. It consists of a 3-4 days introduction to the concepts of You’ve Got MAIDS Operation and Management standards. The training is rigorous and incorporates every aspect of office management and operations from staffing your first office to local territory marketing. After completing your initial studies at Maids University, you will be qualified to manage, and prepared to train your new staff. Your training is never "over" at You’ve Got MAIDS. When operational systems are updated or improved, it may result in a change in procedures. Additional training will be provided to help you and your team learn the new procedures if it is required. Most importantly, the same staff that worked with you during the initial training period is available (by phone, e-mail or at your location) for consultation and support on training issues that may arise.

WHY SHOULD I HIRE YOU?
...The last segment before the Consent for Drug Test, Background Check, MVR, etc. is an essay question entitled...
Yesterday I received a great essay. I will share it here: "You should hire me because I am an honest, truthful, reliable worker. I would do everything in my power to promote you and make you look good. It would not be about me or you, but about us." I've been interviewing service industry people for 19 years, and this is the best essay I can remember. I make it a rule never to hire on the spot, even when I need to, but I broke my rule yesterday.... CLICK HERE to read the entire blog.

Another Independent MAID GONE BAD|Kiryas Joel, NY
Kiryas Joel, NY- A cleaning was arrested yesterday morning in Kiryas Joel. This arrest was the result of a sting operation set by the Kiryas Joel Police. This is high drama in the quiet village of Kiryas Joel, NY...think French Connection mixed with Fiddler on the Roof, but without Gene Hackman. Click here to read the entire story.A 23-year-old Hispanic female was working under the table in numerous homes throughout Kiryas Joel. Neighbors got together compared notes and went to the police. Yesterday morning the police set a trap in one of the homes the suspect was scheduled to clean. The cleaning lady took the bait. Later the police apprehended the crooked cleaning lady and she had the marked bills in her possession. The independent maids was taken away in a New York State Police cruiser and charged with grand larceny...

GREEN CLEAN |Bloomberg's Green Energy Plan
Throughout the You've Got MAIDS system we have bumped the average number of maids from 2 to 3 per maid-mobile. This may not seem like a great deal, but the way we look at it, it reduces the number of miles we drive by 33%. Carpooling works for green maid services too!

ENTREPRENEUR TIPS| FINANCE A NEW CLEANING FRANCHISE BUSINESS
be your own boss | best franchise | best franchise opportunities | best franchise opportunity | best franchises | business | business for sale | business franchise | business franchising | business opportunities business opportunity| buy a franchise | buy franchise | buying a franchise | buying franchise | entrepreneur | entrepreneur franchise | fanchise | fast food franchise | fitness franchise | food franchise | for sale businesses | frachise | franchaise | franchies | franchis | franchise | franchise advice | franchise agreement | franchise agreements | franchise association | franchise attorney | franchise available | franchise business for sale | franchise business opportunities | franchise business opportunity | franchise businesses | franchise com

Typically there are two ways for you as a franchisee to finance your new maid service franchise:
#1 – Pull some money out of your mattress. Whether it comes from a bank account, home equity line of credit or a 401/IRA “C” rollover, you can put your net worth to work for you.
When it comes to financing, the home equity lines of credit is the most fashionable method. Other folks roll their 401K or IRA into a "C" corporation and then use those funds to start the business. It might be a good idea to talk to a CPA if you don’t know what you are doing.
#2- Conventional financing. You contribute up to 30% equity and a lender finances the rest. Most lenders require collateral, typically a first or second mortgage on real estate. There will be fees and closing costs associated with these commercial business loans so the shrewd franchisee will shop it around.
A Small Business Administration (SBA) loan might be your best bet.
- The SBA will need proof that you are the owner and that you will be active in your new franchise. A good franchisor will also want to see you actively involved in your new business.
- The SBA will require you to invest 10-30% for a new franchise business loan. They want you to have some skin in the game.
- The SBA will check your credit history. If it’s not too good, start saving and become your own bank.
- If you are purchasing an existing business, the SBA will want to see an adequate cash flow & an appropriate debt/net worth ratio.
Purchasing a business is very similar to planting a tree. The best time to plant a tree was 50 years ago. The next best time is today. Good luck.

Many professional maid service open quietly, acquire Clients and then close without a whimper. Maybe they are frustrated. Perhaps it wasn't what the entrepenuer had expected. Perhaps they were not profitable. Perhaps their temperment wasn't a good fit for dealing with the labor pool or the high end consumers. Whatever the reason they just close their doors, leaving their employees and Clients high and dry.Every day we talk to professional maid service consumers who had a professional maid service who just stopped showing up. Not even a Dear John letter. What is professional about that? What a waste.
If you are one of the professional maid services poised to throw in the towel, please consider selling your business to You've Got MAIDS of Orlando, Florida. It is possible that we could help you, your employees and your clients. Please call or email to discuss this further.
Information You've Got MAIDS would need:
#1- List of Clients per zip code. We would not require their names or addresses until we finalize the agreement. #2- For each Client we would need to know how long you have been serving them, price per clean, square footage of house, #bed, #bath, #people, #pets, how long you spent cleaning it for the past 4 cleans. Just email me, and I will send a Excel form for you to fill out.

Passion| Would Scarlet O'Hara make a good You’ve Got MAIDS Franchisee?

The protagonist of Margaret Mitchell's 1936 novel Gone With The Wind was passionate, but is passion alone enough? The Scarlet O'Hara we find at the end of the story was the type of person that lands on her feet, I like that, but would she make a good candidate for a You've Got MAIDS residential home cleaning franchise?
Answer: Not if you listen to her parting words. She seems to be willing to work hard and work smart, but the promise to God that she is willing to lie, steal, cheat and kill seems to be lacking in integrity.

PASSION | Why choose the You’ve Got MAIDS Franchise?
This post is part three of a series to explore why you may want to purchase a You’ve Got MAIDS franchise. - Ed.PASSION
When you start a business to fill a need and then nurture it into multi-state franchise, that's the result of passion. The word passion comes from the Latin patior, meaning to suffer or to endure. What do I know about Latin? Not much. I struggled to get through two years of German to fulfill my foreign language requirement.
Passionate people stand out on any street. Our passion to help ourselves while helping others was, and is, an intense, compelling emotion. The first part of our passion was directed to helping others by providing safe, trained & insured maids to make our Clients lives just a little bit nicer. The second part of our passion is to teach franchise partners how to do the same thing, and by doing so build profitable, scalable businesses. How well the franchise partner does is the combination of a myriad of factors; the franchise partners passion for our systems and processes is key.
We’ve been committed to making You've Got MAIDS, Americas Finest Maid Service since day one, and that’s not about to change any time soon. As long as we’re fanatical about You’ve Got MAIDS, our Clients will be fanatical about You’ve Got MAIDS.

BEIJING BEAT: You’ve Got MAIDS Phenomenon goes global
By Kent Dorfman, AP Sports Writer
BEIJING - Quick quiz: What has 13 letters and means global phenomenon?
Answer: You’ve Got MAIDS.
The Beijing Olympics have belonged to one team, You’ve Got MAIDS from Orlando, FL who have become a household name from the Philippines to Peru and Cairo to Caracas. Due to an Olympic Committee fluke clerical error, You’ve Got MAIDS April 1st petition for inclusion in the Beijing Games was approved. In unrelated matters, the delegation from Yugoslavia was denied an invitation to this years games.
With their gold medal and world record haul so far, You’ve Got MAIDS has transcended Olympic sports and exploded onto the planet's consciousness as a once-in-a-lifetime supernova.
" You’ve Got MAIDS Maidletes don't swim — they fly," said the sports daily Ole in Argentina.
With the You’ve Got MAIDS Maidletes victory Friday in the 200-meter medley, four maids picked up their sixth gold medal and sixth world record of the games. When they were finished swimming the Maidletes astounded the Olympic Committee by cleaning the women’s locker-room perfectly before accepting their gold medals. With two swimming races left, the all female team of maids from You’ve Got MAIDS are on course to break Mark Spitz's, Eric Heiden's, John Blutarsky's, and Carl Lewis’s combined gold medal records for a single Summer Olympics.
International Olympic Committee president Dean Vernon Wormer called the You’ve Got MAIDS Maidletes simply "the icon of the games."
The Maidletes feats have drawn banner headlines across the world, including in regions and countries where maids competing against world class athletes normally gets scant attention, with newspapers and commentators tripping over each other for superlatives and nicknames:
"The New Olympic Legend," blared Egypt's El Badeel.
"The American dolphins," wrote Spain's El Pais.
"The Goddesses of Olympia," intoned France's Nouvel Nouvel Observateur.
"The water women from another planet," hailed Denmark's Berligske Tidende
"At a time when world records seemed to have hit the ceiling of what's physically possible to wrestle out of the human organism, Maidletes have been the women who managed to push the limits with their magnificent performance," the Danish paper said.
Chinese media have dubbed the Maidletes the "flying maids" or the "American super-maids." One editorial cartoon showed Yvonne the Maidletes Quality Control Manager as a shark overtaking a torpedo. China's most popular sports newspaper, the Titan Weekly — which is running daily editions during the games — made the Maidletes one of its two front-page stories Thursday. It ran a large photo of a joyous Maidletes under the headline "the Royal Maidletes."
The world has shown a special fascination with the maidletes diet, which counts an amazing 300 calories a day — six times less than an average adult eats. For example, the Maidletes Captain, Marlen Chirinos enjoys a breakfast that consists of ½ a diet coke and a Ritz Cracker.
"Any average adult human being needs some 2,500 daily calories to live a life without excesses," Argentina's Ole said. "Of course when you're in the presence of a machine like the Maidletes, those parameters can go to hell."
French media have focused on what is going to happen once the swimming portion of the games end. The Maidletes are scheduled to take on men’s boxing next. Story developing.

Minimum Wage|Large Pizza Hut franchisee files for bankruptcy
Balancedpolitics.org seems to be leaning toward abolishing the minimum wage. They write: According to this courier-journal.com article out of Louisville, Kentucky, one of Pizza Hut's largest franchisees has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Midland Food Services of Independence, Ohio, claims it’s number one reason for bankruptcy is the hike in the minimum wage. If you want to buy a franchise that seems to be minimum wage immune fill out an application. The application is painless, and gives us a better idea who we are talking with. This could be a great opportunity for you, or perhaps you should do something else. Our Franchise Department will help you sort it out.
I will tell you that the federal minimum wage hike didn't effect You've Got MAIDS at all. We changed a few posters in our back rooms, but beyond that no change. That's because we don't pay the minimum wage. We offer far more. We pay more, so we can expect more. Most states have a minimum wage higher than the federal requirement. If you don't know where you stand here is a handy map link.
